Absolutely stunning card!  One question: can it be stamped on after you use the fixative?  Multiple ideas running through my head.

I do tole and decorative painting as well, and I use a method similar to this to give an interesting background for a project. Instead of actually touching the wood to the flame, I would take an old regular cutlery knife, and hold it in the flame of the candle. It will start to smoke right away and then I just hold the wood piece over top of where the flame was smoking. You should use a knife that you don't need to use for anything else. This technique works with acrylic stamps but WILL stain them.
