Card making, rubber stamping techniques and project videos for papercrafters

Here is my first attempt at a tutorial. I thought I'd share with you how I made my woven napkin rings. I hope you all like it.

I started by using the left over tubing from a roll of wrapping paper and 40mm score tape.

I wrapped a piece of tape around the end of the tube and cut the tube even with the tape.

I cut 4 strips of white paper 3/8" wide and 15 strips of coloured paper 3/8" wide. the white strips need to be long enough to wrap around the tube with a little extra. the coloured strips need to be long enough to run past the tube as shown in the photo below.

To get the weave started, glue one coloured strip at the bottom of the 4 white strips in a weave pattern as shown below.

Continue adding more strips in a weave pattern until the overall length is enough to wrap around the tube.glue the last strip in place just as you did the starter strip.

Begin pulling the paper off the roll to expose the sticky strip and carefully place the woven paper on the tube. Make sure that the white strips do not land beyond the edge of the tube. Only the ends of the coloured paper should extend beyond the tube edges.

For some reason I can't upload more pictures beyond these, so I will post Part two in another blog

Great tutorial, Laurie.  I was wondering how you made the napkin ring. Thanks for sharing.
