Here's my 2nd card for my 30 Days of Love series that he got yesterday. Angel and I share scrapbooking / card making stuff, and she just bought the Juli's Garden Cuttlebug embossing folder and coordinating border because we are making the invitations for her brother's wedding. I love that folder! There's so many things I have in mind to do with it now.
I wanted to try it out for Bill's card. I embossed white cardstock, inked the flowers lightly with Gina K Designs Passionate Pink and Bubblegum Pink, and then added some of Memento's Lady Bug. The inks are darker on the raised portions of the embossed card. I added the white Perfect Pearls shimmer to the whole thing, and then gold Pearls in the dots and flower middles. I added a pink card base, and white organdy ribbon at the bottom.
Thoughts: I need to give the Pearls time time to dry before I stick my big fingers in them. They're all squashed. If this is a technique I want to use on wedding invitations, I'll need to be more careful or just buy faux pearls. The inking would be really pretty on vellum paper. I've seen it done, and the vellum looks like a watercolor painting. I think I will get some, and try making it in the bride's colors of pink and orange. I may also get a bride and groom to add to the front, since they're marrying outdoors, or just fussy cut the embossed paper to adorn the corners with a monogram or some kind of saying in the middle. It will need to be simple but classy since we'll be making so many, and I don't want to add postage.
So Bill's card has done double duty. He found it when he went to play his PS3, and gave me a big kiss afterwards. I wrote a quote inside, "Summer set lips to Earth's bosom bare, and left the flushed print of a poppy there." Woo woo!
