Hi Stacy,

You can enter one or both, but do not have to have entered or won at your local level in order to enter the State Fair...they are independent...does not apply to card makers/scrapbookers.

There may be other categories where you have to have won at your local level...but I do not know what they are. Definitely not card making, quilling, scrapbooking! Yipee for us!

Hope you will all take the plunge...if you like your card...others will too and will enjoy seeing them on display! I felt no confidence the first year I entered and was sooooooooooooo excited to have won a number of First, Seconds and Thirds.....I say to you, if I can do it, you can too!!!!!

Paper Hugs,

Jan

Okay so, you can enter the state fair without entering a county fair? I was always under the impression things that went to state had "won" in their counties...

just curious.

Hi again...I just printed out the forms...you want the Oregon State Fair Preliminary Entry Form & submit by June 29th; you need Class number, lot number, and division - you will find that info on pages 30 'Hobbies' and on the pages after...depending on what you are interested in entering.  You also might want to check out your local County Fair as you can enter the same things in both. first County - then State.

Wonderful! Thank you so much Jan for the info!

Angela...I have entered each year since 2008...as a 'Professional' because I teach a few classes at Stampin' Cat Studio a few times a year. Type in www.oregonstatefair 2012 in Google, Creative Living, print off the Preliminary Entry Form(s) which have to be completed and submitted by June 29th. There is a category in the Oregon State Fair's Creative Living judged department for paper crafting...12 for rubber stamping, 9 for miscellaneious paper art and 4 for quilling (not quilting as printed).  Check out the rules, etc. on line as they have changed this year. There are many 'LOTS' to enter - you will fall into one of 4 different levels: junior, 0-5 years experience, over 5 years experience, and professional which includes instructors, owners, demonstrators and others. (You cannot submit something you have made in a class). All the info is on-line; hope this helps!  Jan

Jan, congratulations on winning!! I checked out your card and it was exquisite! Do you actually submit cards for the Oregon State Fair? If so, what division would they fall under?

I'm ready...good thing as it's officially HERE!!!! Are you all gearing up for the Oregon State Fair... oregonstatefair.org will give you all the info and new rules for this year. Your paperwork has to be in/postmarked no later than June 29, 2012!  The actual cards/projects do not have to be in until a later date. Since you use their wording for the description in filling out your form, you have time to pick what you want to enter....CHECK IT OUT....we don't want this opportunity to go away...and it will if no one enters!!!

Check out my blog to see the latest: http://www.jancastle.blogspot.com  I don't usually do on-line challenges, but could not resist this one...tell me what you would do with this doodle - that I carried around for several weeks - thinking before accepting the challenge????

Paper Hugs,  Jan
