I do a lot of work with soldiers. I have learned about a soldier who is struggling after being wounded. He needs encouragement and support. His name is SFC Patterson. A dear friend of mine is collecting cards for him, and will see that they are delivered to him.
My friends' address is as follows:
SFC Patterson c/o Maria Edwards
3474 Stellar Drive
San Diego, CA 92123
Thank you so much for your love and support!
Sounds like something everyone should do. We owe a lot to our military. I will get right on this. Thank you!
Thank you, Linda! I appreciate it. I agree wholeheartedly!
Thank you for making us aware of this need. I agree with Linda. We do owe our military men and women so much.
Hi Debbie! I love that you are doing this...but I just have a quick question....recently we had a big issue with someone posting an address here without permission. So I just want to make sure that it's ok this address is posted publicly. Just let me know! Thanks!
Thanks for letting me know Debbie! And I hope you get a lot of cards....I'm not able to send since I use glitter so often in my projects and I can never be sure any of my cards are glitter-free. But usually we get some wonderful response from our members here!!
I've heard about this "glitter-free" requirement before, Lee. Do you know the reasons behind it? Just curious.
HI Cheryl! From what I was told the glitter could possibly get transferred to uniformed soldiers who are serving and show up and compromise their safety. I don't know any specifics other than that. So I try to donate to lots of hospital type groups and send cards to individuals who are completely out of the service so that I don't ever cause any issues.
I guess that makes sense. Glitter shows up all over the place when we use it, doesn't it! Thanks for responding, Lee - I appreciate it.
I checked and we have heard of no such restrictions regarding glitter. I have been sending cards for years and hadn't heard that before. Anyway, in the case of this soldier, he has no restrictions in the place that he is at. So, glitter away, ladies! :-)
OH wonderful Debbie! Maybe it's just certain organizations that collect cards? Well in that case...I will send a card out this week!
Thank you for sharing Debbie - I'll get on it :)
