Tuesday "Anything but a Card Challenge" 5-4-2010 (STVABCKK10)

Happy Tuesday! Thanks to all that participated in last week's flower pot challenge.  I really enjoyed all the different styles. I hope your days continue to be filled with creativity!

The “Anything but a Card” project for this week, is probably something you all have seen before. It is a matchbook holder.

I used both of these for different things.  The first is to hold a bag of tea, and the second is to hold a little gift.  First decide what you want to put inside your matchbook.  Measure your width
and height of the item. Measure your CS to twice the height of your item, plus 1.25”.

 

 For the teabag I used it measures 2.5” wide and 3” tall.  For the matchbook, I used a piece of card stock 3.25” x 8.75”. 
I then scored at ½” and 1” and folded and stapled it. From the other end, I scored at 3 1/8” and 3  3/8”.  I added some score lines to decorate the front, added some embossed mats and a
Nestie oval.  I used images from Nina’s Lovely Shelf stamp set, colored with Copics. I covered up the staples with a leftover piece of embossed CS.

For my other sample, my insert measured  3  3/4” wide x 3 5/8” tall.  My CS measures  4.25” x 9 ½”.  Once again I scored at ½ and 1”, folded and stapled. From the other end, I scored at  4 ¼ and 4 ½”. 

  I decorated this one using up some of my scraps.  I stamped Nina’s doily from Nana’s Needlework and white detail embossing powder, which was then heat set.  I used my
Cuttlebug to  swiss dot  the cover piece. I made the rose using grosgrain ribbon. 
Since I stapled with a decorative staple, I didn’t cover it up, but colored it with Copics to match instead.

My Challenge: Create a matchbook for a small item. You can make it to hold a small pack of post-it notes, or a small stack of scratch paper. Another item could be one of those sewing kits you often get in hotel rooms.

Decorate the front (and inside, if you'd like)  making sure to use a stamped image.
