Good morning, everyone!! Melanie here with this week's challenge for you! Can you guess by the title what it is? I bet lots of you did! For this challenge you will need to create a scene with sponging on just a single layer! It so quick, simple and effective to use your inks and sponges to suggest grass, sky, or in this case, sand and water! Here is the card I made for an example:
For my card I used the Gifts from the Sea set.
It really was easy to do! I'm sharing this card in a video this week, stay tuned! I like daubers for sponging but if you don't have sponge daubers, you can also use a paper towel, rag, cotton ball, sea or cosmetic sponge, etc. I know you have something you can improvise to complete this challenge!
Okay, its your turn now! Time to get sponging!
Here is all the small print:
Be sure and have your creation uploaded to our gallery with the tag "STV17MON9" no later than March 5th , 8PM CST for your chance to win an awesome $20 gift certificate from Gina K Designs!!
(Just a reminder too...no 'back tagging' which means, you can't take a card you uploaded before my challenge was up and tag it with the challenge tag. The time and date have to be later than my time and date for this challenge being posted!)
Here is the gallery for this challenge:
Cant wait to see all of your gorgeous creations!
what a neat challenge. This will be fun.
wow! How gorgeous Mel! I was just looking at pictures from a beach and this looks just like how the waves come up on the sand! LOVE it! Thanks for hosting this week!
What a pretty card! And, bonus, as it is 1 layer, no extra postage for shipping.
What a fun challenge. I'm getting into sponging more and more. Your card is great. I was so excited when Gifts from the Sea came out in clear. I just got back from a few days at the beach and was wondering how I could get the look of waves coming in and you've nailed it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Good challenge especially for me as I'm not a good sponger. Will play and see what happens.
I have been thinking that I wanted to try and sponge a scene, and here is the challenge to motivate me to actually do it! Thanks for the great challenge. Looking forward to seeing the video!
Thanks, everybody!! Sponge, sponge! Stamp, stamp!! :)
This will definitely be a challenge for me! I am not a very good sponger at all! Have to get the thinking cap on. Thanks for the inspiration, Melanie.
So sponging it is this week. I, too, am not always happy with my technique but am realizing that we are our own worst critiques. I have found that once everything is truly dry, it is rarely destined for the round file and that less us usually the best. Off to see what happens....
