Card making, rubber stamping techniques and project videos for papercrafters

Hello everyone, happy Monday!  I am glad to be hosting the Mix it Up Monday challenge this week! This week's challenge is simple but effective: create a scene with silhouettes with your bold images and background colors! Lots of ways to create that background, too: suggesting a combination of sky, land and/or water by sponging as I did here, watercoloring, distress inks, smackin' acetate, direct to paper, you choose! If you *don't* have any bold stamps to make a scene, you can still make it work: use line art, stamping in black or another dark color and then filling in with that same color! You do not necessarily have to use black to make your silhouettes, a dark color like navy or brown would be very striking. :)

On my card, I used my Stately Flowers 11 and Fabulous Flowers stamp sets.  I will be demonstrating this card and the sponging and masking and reverse masking in my video this week.

POSTING DEADLINE

Be sure to have your creations uploaded to our gallery no later than 8 p.m. Central Time on April 30th.  Be sure to add the tag STV17MON17 for your chance to win a $20.00 Gina K Designs gift certificate!  Have fun!

Important Note: No 'back tagging' which means, you can't take a card you uploaded prior to this challenge was posted and tag it with this challenge tag.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you create!

I am going to enjoy this challenge as until recently I had never really tried to use silhouette stamps. I have several so it will be fun to use them.

Beautiful card, love the Challenge!

Gorgeous card. I love the scene in the postage frame. Can't wait to see the video.

So effective with the use of white. Sponging is the perfect background technique. You are such an artist.

I was playing with the Smakin' Acetate technique this weekend and had just finished a landscape type card.  I uploaded it right after your challenge posted, so I tagged it with this challenge number.  I will make another and try another stamp set.  I am not great at landscapes so this is challenging.  Thanks for the ideas.

Lovely card, and I have a lot of stamps I can use, not to decide which to use.

Such a beautiful card!  I love those colors!!  Looking forward to your video!  I am like Johanna and rarely use those stamps.  It will be fun to try them out! :)

This is Gorgeous Melanie! I love the background and what a beautiful scene!  <3  :)

I need help I not sure understand what do with challenge? to my silhouette stamps. all black or dark colors But, then add colors so I confused here. Some help me out here? So I know we doing? thanks, Linda

I made a simple little scene and so thought I should enter MINE into the challenge. I love to do simple scenes using silhouette images so this was a fun thing for me. And, I love the card you did with the silhouette image too. Those are gorgeous colors.

Love your card, Melanie! Thank you for the awesome challenge!

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it confusing, was just trying to give some options for those with linited supplies. Create a scene using bold stamps in a dark color (black or other) over some type of colored background, so it looks like a scene, not just a floating stamped image. Hope this helps!
