Card making, rubber stamping techniques and project videos for papercrafters

PUT YOUR MASK ON!

Barbara Campbell here! I am so pleased to be your hostess for this weeks MIUM Challenge at STV.  With all of the beautiful images to choose from at Gina K Designs, I am sure that you will be able to join in the challenge this week.

Are you crafters ready to put on your MASK?  Yes, It is not Halloween, but I am asking you to put a mask on your project this week.  Masking is a way of making your images look like they are behind or in front of other images.   In my example, I chose leaves, from Gina's, The Simple Things stamp set, but this technique adapts well with flowers and animals and lots of others things too.

Here is the card that I did for this challenge.

Card stock is Dusty Sage, Sandy Beach and Black Onyx with Fresh Asparagus ink, all Gina K.  I layered the leaves using a mask for several of them.  Using the mask below, and Distressed Ink called Frayed Burlap, I then sponged over the entire image.  Two ways to Mask!  The sentiment is my favorite from Gina's Birthday Greetings.  A strip of striped paper and some black stones from my stash.  I also used a spellbinder die on the edge called A2 Bracket Borders One.

I just tore a hole in a piece of typing paper where I wanted it to be and then used it to sponge the area over the leaves.

You can see how Gina does masking on her project  HERE

I can't wait to see the sensational projects that you come up with.

Remember there are lots of ways that you can use a mask.

Be sure to upload your project to the Gallery by 8:00 PM CST Sunday,

July 19th, with the tag STV15MON28

Beautiful card Barbara, and what a fun challenge. Thanks so much for hosting this weeks challenge. :)

How very pretty! Love the leaves with a sponged background! I hope I can play along with everyone!

Oooh such a beautiful card!  Love the mask technique, so many possibilities.  FUN Challenge!

Thank you all my friends! It is a dark rainy day here iin Wisconsin this morning. A great day to pull out the stamps and get crafting. I am challenging you all.
Your sample card is stunning, Barb. Wow! A really elegant design! What a treat for someone to receive a card like this... the real joy of hand-made cards! Hope to play along in your challenge this week.

Wow, that is really cool looking.  I don't mask too often, but I need to learn more.  Thanks!

Thank you Loretta. Sure hope you get a chance to play. I will be watching.

Barbara, awesome card really....I love it!  I am a newbie at this and not sure I will have time to participate but I have to tell you that this is something that I'd like to get better at and that I think will be a lot of fun.  I love the colors you've chosen as well and I think that border is a fantastic idea, ie using the Spellbindiers die.

Very creative my dear and a great challenge:D

Your card is beautiful!  I rarely do masking, so this will be a fun one.

This is a great challenge Barbara!  Love your card too!  The leaves looks spectacular...going to try my best to join you!!!

How awesome Barbara! I LOVE your creation!!  Thanks so much for hosting this week for us!!
