PRETTY IN PINK

Welcome challenge #2 for “Stamp Out Cancer” on Stamp TV!!  This is a special week to show encouragement and support for our family and friends that have been impacted by breast cancer. We will have a new challenge each day for the week to kick off the month of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Hopefully you've all had a chance to see the new “Fight Like A Girl” stamp set and patterned paper pack.  Gina K. Designs will be making a donation to the American Cancer Society is made with every purchase.

In 1993, Evelyn Lauder, Senior Corporate Vice President of the Estée Lauder Companies, founded The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and established the pink ribbon as its symbol, though this was not the first time the ribbon was used to symbolize breast cancer. In the fall of 1991, the Susan G. Komen Foundation had handed out pink ribbons to participants in its New York City race for breast cancer survivors.

Did you know?

Male breast cancer, which is rare, is generally overlooked. In 2009 the male breast cancer advocacy groups Out of the Shadow of Pink, A Man's Pink, and the Brandon Greening Foundation for Breast Cancer in Men joined together to globally establish the third week of October as "Male Breast Cancer Awareness Week".

My challenge today is called “Pretty in Pink”.  Since the pink ribbon is the symbol for breast cancer awareness, nothing is more fitting for the challenge. My challenge is for you to create a card of encouragement and support in recognition of this month. The key element is that is should be PINK! Although I have not met Lee’s sister-in-law (yet), I am dedicating my challenge to her because she’s one of Lee’s favorite people! Besides, everyone knows that our friend Lee LOVES pink!

Thanks Sean for hosting and thanks for pointing out the men's breast cancer.  I wasn't aware of the 3rd week of October as Male Breast Cancer Awareness.    I am a 2.5 year breast cancer survivor and I have met so many women who have also had to deal with this disease.  There is so much focus on us women, that people often forget it affects men too.

Awesome card, I love how you paper pieced the image, and did the layer of ribbon pp on top of that embossed background.  Love it.  :)  <3

Love this card! Am glad you told Us about male breast cancer awareness week, I did not know that. Thank you for the inspiration.

Just lost a dear friend to Breast Cancer.  Thanks so much for your support.  The card is lovely

So well done ...

Very pretty card. That bow is so tiny and adorable. Love how you were able to stamp on the embossed area.

Beautiful card! My Dad survived breast cancer in 1993.  He had a mastectomy and radiation and lived 20 more years.

what a beautiful card1 Thanks for taking the time to bring our awarness to breast cancer month! In toledo we have a lady who has been helping support breast cancer awareness for years with a race to help breast cancer  people. Other cities have joined the fight!!

For a dude, you make a mean bra. BC survivor myself of twice in 4-1/2 years. Still on tamoxifen. Next time around, and I hope there isn't one, I'm doing an Angelina Jolie. My girls do not define me. I'm 51 and had ovarian cancer at 42.

Awesome creation my friend!
