Card making, rubber stamping techniques and project videos for papercrafters

Wow, it's almost time for our next Gina K Designs release party and I thought I would post some tips on how to find your way around the Gina K forums over at Split Coast Stampers, where we hold our parties.

Here is a DIRECT LINK TO THE FEBRUARY RELEASE PARTY. But if you are over there and get lost I want to be sure you can find your way back, as well as find the contest questions and challenges.

If you go to the forums at Split Coast Stampers (which I will refer to as SCS from here on out) and scroll down a bit, you will see the Member Company Forums and the link to the Gina K Designs forums. (see photo below)

If you click on Gina K Designs, you will be taken to Gina's forums, and will be able to view all the threads and subforums. (see photo below). Here is a direct link to Gina's forums at SCS. A few days before the release date, Gina will post the new Release Party Thread for June. In the photo below, you can see one of our past parties. Once you are in the Gina K forums, just scroll down a bit. The thread will usually be right at the top and say "PARTY" all in caps. If you click on that title, it will take you to the first page of the party.

Once you are in the party thread, you'll see Gina's post, right at the top, giving all the details of when the party starts. The photo below shows her post from our May release party. When you come to the party, there may already be more than one page of replies. The newest replies will be on the last page. You can skim through and look at all the posts, or just click on "Last Page" to see the latest.

When Gina posts important information, like links to challenges, or the full set reveals, she will use large, red letters, so keep on the lookout for those posts.

Once the party officially starts, things will move very fast and it can be difficult to keep up. You can click F5 on your keyboard or click the refresh page button on your browser to see new replies. The replies will be coming in very fast at times, so just keep refreshing.

If all of a sudden there are no new replies, it may be because the page filled up and a new page has started, so you will need to click on the "Last Page" again. (See photo above)

If you want to reply to a conversation, or just say "hi," just scroll on down to the bottom of the page and you will see a Quick Reply Box. (see photo below) Just type in your text and click on "Post Quick Reply" when you are finished typing.

If you want all the little text options like bold, italics, add links, or smileys, you can click on "Go Advanced" or "Reply" (see photo above) and you will be taken to a new screen with a full text box with all those options available. (see photo below)

During the party, Gina will be making announcements, with links to the full stamp set reveals on her blog, challenges, and contest questions. She will link to each, but you can find the challenges and contest questions in the sub forums located in the Gina K forums. (see photo below)

You can find them by clicking into the forum while you are in the Gina K forums, or you can find the Challenges here and the Contest Questions here.

All the new challenges and questions will be posted during the release party. One thing to be aware of is old challenges and contests are also posted there, so be sure to check the date of the thread and make sure it is for the current release.

Another thing that happens during release parties, is the Senior Design Team, Center Stage Spotlight Design Team and special guests will post projects using all the new stamp sets. Most of these photos will be attached to the thread. If you miss them during the fast paced party, you can find them by clicking on the little paper clip to the right of the discussion thread in the main Gina K page. (see photo below).

Tip from Donna - To prevent a ton of emails in your email in-box, go to the envelope on SCS (private messages).
Settings & Options – Edit Options – Messaging & Notifications – 2nd box Default Thread Subscription Mode.
In drop-down menu, select Do Not Subscribe and Save Changes all the way at the bottom.

I think I have covered the basics. If you have any questions, please post here.

Thanks and I hope to see you at the party!

Thanks Theresa, this is great. Last month was my first time and it was all I could do to try and follow along. I was too overwhelmed to try and comment. Maybe I will try this time since I have this wonderful guide. Who said you can't teach old dogs new tricks - LOL!
