Card making, rubber stamping techniques and project videos for papercrafters

I watched the demo for opening the new tighter ink pads and then tried.  After breaking 2 newly manicured nails I finally got one open.  I personally would like the old ones back.  The stamp pads might stay juicy a little longer but I would save money on manicures.

How about using an old butter knife?  It doesn't have a sharp edge, but would open the ink without wrecking your nails.

Good suggestion Karen!

I do love the tighter lids myself.  I use a little orange stick..the ones you use to push cuticles back?  They work well for me!  I would have an ink pad that Id put back in its spot and no noticed the lid had slightly come off.  Now with the tighter ones, this hasnt happened!  And over time, the more you use the pad, it will loosen up some!

Do you really want to fuss with butter knives and orange sticks when you are working on a project or do you just want to grab, open, and stamp.  I am not trying to be a brat, but I never had any trouble with the old ink lids. now I am just irritated.  I have the three new colors for Easter projects and they are bugging me.

I like the new tighter lids and have no problem opening them with the side of my thumb to push the top open.

I just push with my thumb, not my nail.  No problem, love them!

I am hoping that this is the ONLY thing that bugs you, then you life will be a breeze!

I will try the thumb. I was just wanting to see how others liked the new pads and some solutions.  Thanks and Happy Stamping.

It seems to me that the more I use it, the easier it becomes to open.  I guess I didn't see it being that bad because I used to have a lot of problems with the Stampin' Up flip pads.  Those things drive me nuts sometimes!

I am not having problems. I did try opening it the way Gina showed on the video and it does work, but I have been opening it more often by putting my thumb on one side of the lid and my forefinger on the other side and lifting it up. I think that is how I naturally open all my ink pads. It comes off fairly easily without using my nails.

I will admit it was a little irritating at first, but the more I use them the easier I have found it to be...probably cause I'm learning HOW to use them.  HOWEVER, it's MORE irritating to go to put away one of the older kind, and have the lid pop off, so I have to say I'm kinda liking these new ones just because I don't have as much trouble with the lids not staying on!!  Change is sometimes hard...but if you get used to something, you sometimes can find you DO like it better after all!!  :-))

It's not really an option to go back to the old ones. The manufacturer who does ink pads for all the companies is using this new lid size. So sorry.

I like the new lids.  I can tell now that my lid is on securely.  I don't have a problem opening them.  I think our ink in our pads will last longer as well.  So thank you for that.  Hugs.
