Card making, rubber stamping techniques and project videos for papercrafters

Hi Guys!

Ive been having a problem with my stamps and ink. I buy all of my stamps from Gina and I LOVE them. I also get all of my ink from the website. My problem is whenever I use clear stamps the ink immediatly seperates on the stamp and comes out really spotty. I thought it was the stamps but it does this right out of the package. Then I thought it must be the ink pad but it happened with a brand new Tim Hults ink pad. I normally use the Memento ink. I find that I have to really use stamp cleaner to get an okay image. They arent dirty at all, and I just dont know what to do. Does anyone else have this problem? I really feel like I am doing something wrong ): I have only been stamping about 5 months now, and am still experiencing newbie problems..

Sarah, I've never heard of this sort of thing happening. I suggest you contact support - I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the ink pad itself.  I can't imagine the stamps would do that.  I have heaps of the clear stamps, and have never had anything like this happen.

Sometimes if you ink with Versamark then the colored ink it will help.

I have had this happen with some less expensive clear stamps but never with my GinaK stamps. I found a tip on YouTube suggesting you lightly rub the stamp with a pencil eraser... This worked for me but I wold hesitate to do it with my good stamps, but then again I haven't had the same problem with them. I also have had this happen with Tim holtz distressed ink but I assumed it was because the distressed ink is supposed to have a "distressed" look. I could be wrong but this is what I have found.
Sarah, also make sure you're really inking your stamps up well. If you watch Gina's videos, you'll see she really inks up her stamps.

I am actually wondering if your stamp cleaner is the problem.  You have to be really careful what you use on clear stamps to clean them.  I would clean them with just a little warm water and a small amount of dishwashing soap. Sometimes the ink actually looks blotchy on the stamp but them stamps ok.  I agree with Jeanne too make sure you ink up well.  Hope you find a solution

I ink them up really really well. It almost looks like there is too much ink or something its very strange ):

Could it be your paper you are using?  That the ink isnt 'soaking' into?  Ive just never had this problem with the stamps before is why I was asking this too. ...trying to think WHAT it could be, lol!
