Hello Gina K/StampTV fans!! I am excited to bring you today's Mix It Up Monday Challenge Shabby Chic
Shabby chic is a form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their age and signs of wear and tear or new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique. At the same time, a soft, minimalistic, and feminine feel is emphasized to differentiate it from regular vintage decor; hence the "chic" in the name.
So translating this to card-making; you can use distress inks to sponge, crumple or use a distress tool on your cardstock, sew (faux or machine), use lace, ribbons, etc - anything to give it an antique appearance.
Here is my card using the Springtime Silhouettes StampTV kit. I used lots of distress inks (like 3 colors), used a distress tool on the edges of my ivory cardstock and sewed on it. I also used distress inks to color my ivory ribbon to match.
Here is a close up to show you that after I stamped the ivory cardstock, I ran it through my cuttlebug with the Victoria embossing folder. Love the look!
I look forward to seeing your creations throughout the week! Please create and upload a new project for this challenge and it can only be entered into this challenge here on StampTV to be eligible for a prize. However, you can use it for challenges outside of StampTV. If you use Gina K. Designs stamps, your name will go into the drawing twice.
Be sure and use tag STVMONDB1 on your card!! Here is a link to view all the cards!!
I love these new challenges!
This is the 2nd week in a row I've been challenged to try a technique I've never done before. Your card is wonderful and I am looking forward to seeing what I can do. Thanks for the fun challenge and inspiration!
I love the way you added some zigzag stitching to the opposite corners. it really makes the stitched border stand out .
