My name is Alma, and I need your help. I am trying to raise money to award a scholarship to a young person who is going to college in the fall in memory of my niece who was a victim of domestic violence. I wanted to do a card sale to kick off this fund raising effort. I initially thought of trying to make valentine cards to sell but now I realize I can't make enough cards for this. I have family and friends who are willing but they are not crafty. I need cards for any occasion, birthday, get well, sympathy etc. If you can help in this effort I would be so appreciative and will keep you updated on the progress as I go along.
My niece, Thya was a hard working, family oriented person who loved children and was always trying to doing whatever she could to help anyone in need. She always said helping people was "her ministry". Her death has left a hole in the heart of our family and a void in her community. There were over a thousand people in attendance at her funeral and countless testimonies of her good works.
Last Wednesday I attended the arraignment of the person responsible for her murder, her husband. I and other members of my family are committed to being at every court appearance to ensure that we get justice for Thya. You can read about all of this at nj.com by typing in her name, Thya Wilson.
If you are willing to help me, I can be reached at:

Sending you hugs of encouragement - one domestic violence is one too many, and for her to die? What a terrible and senseless loss of life. Thanks for posting your address - I'm sure you will receive many cards from us here. Please share our care and concern with your family!
Thank you so much.

BIG (((HUGS))) to you and your family Alma!! My heart is breaking for all of you and reading the story brought tears to my eyes. Many years ago I too was a victim of domestic violence so this hits close to home.
When do you need the cards? I may not be able to get to the post office for a few days. I will go through my stash and pull some out, though I don't think I have any Valentine cards available but plenty of others.
Thank You.
