Card making, rubber stamping techniques and project videos for papercrafters

I am curious as to how many cards of each type you make. When you make a card along with the video, do you just make one? or do you make several so.that if you use.one, you have an.example left?

Also, do you just make cards that appeal to you and.file them,or do you make a card as the occasion comes up?

Good question!  I almost never make more than one of each card.  I also typically just create, and do not make cards for specific occasions.  Actually, if I try to make one for an occasion, it is harder for me.  I usually have something in my stash that will work.  One thing I try to do is to leave a space for a sentiment on a card, but not add it, so that I can use that card for whichever occasion comes up.

I know that many people like to make several of a card after they have gone to the trouble of planning it out, though.

About the only time I make more than one card of exactly the same design is at Christmas. Right now my schedule only allows me to make cards as I need them and I'm waaaaay behind on birthday cards and other cards just to have in my stash.  I recently had the need for several sympathy cards. Although they were similar, each one was just a little different. If I do make a card along with a video, I try to add my own personal touch.

I just make whatever strikes my fancy at the time.  Mostly single cards, and rarely sets of 3-6.   If I need one for something specific, Ill go 'shopping' in my craft room and see if any of my supplies jump out at me.  Otherwise, I usually have a good stash hanging around..  (If you take small clear command hooks, and hang them every 4' around your walls (if you have room), and string twine between them, and use the tiny clothespin embellishments, you can hang a LOT of your finished cards..  This helps you remember what you have, too..

Generally I make one of each card (not counting Christmas or other holidays). I might make multiples using different colors or papers. Quite often there is a specific occasion in mind or a technique I want to try but I do keep a stash on-hand of finished cards. I like to keep a sample which means I have a hard time actually using my favorites but I have made a habit of photographing every card I make so I have the picture(digital) to refer back to and don't have to keep the actual card.

I always make two, one to keep, one to send. It's so fun reading everyone else's answers! :)

Gina's right- it was fun and also interesting to see the different answers. I'm kinda surprised, actually that y'all make just one (except for Gina).

So....if you send out cards for a holiday, as in Christmas, etc...does each person get a different card?

Catherine- who revamped her tiny card area this weekend and got a new chair and chair mat this morning. I am in bidness, people!! ;)

Last year, everyone got a totally different card - BUT, I had foot surgery, so it's not like I had anything better to do, but sit on my butt. For Easter, and I've got bases put together in different colors, but the designs are all the same.  (I tried Gina's scotch tape masking to combine two stamps into one design, and it worked!  Woohoo!!  I may be forever putting "this head on that body" now.) :):)

Catherine, Yes, for the most part Christmas card recipients will get a different card.  There may be one or two that are the same or very similar (maybe different color ink or different patterned paper).  I HAVE cut down my basic Christmas card list to about 40-50 and I will use a store bought Christmas card if I need to reciprocate a card to someone I don't usually send to.

I guess the one thing where the cards are all the same are Valentines that the kids will exchange at school.  Those are really simple and the same.

All your answers are very interesting. I'm like several of you and except for holidays only make one - but my reason is so I don't send the same card to the same person! Memory isn't as sharp as it use to be! (Ha!)

One.  Just one unless I'm doing a class or making valentines or something like that.  I get bored when I make the same card over!! : )

Ditto!  I could have written that, Pam, LOL!

I have gotten out of the habit of making 2 cards. If you are making an A2 card size you get two card bases from and 8-1/2 x11 sheet of cardstock so it always seemed natural just to make two; one to send and one to keep.
