Card making, rubber stamping techniques and project videos for papercrafters

Oh goodness..bear with me.  I am new to the card making scene and am starting to familiarize myself with techniques, terms, tools, the whole nine yards.  I'm sure you remember how it was when you first started.  After much research several blogs highly recommended STV and Gina K. Designs and especially her kits.  I definitely want to get one of those, but am having trouble finding where I order it at.  Also, do you have any must haves for a beginner card maker - other sources in addition to Gina K?  I love it so much and feel like I have to have it all right now...ha ha.

Hi Misty, there's a link at the top of this page (below the site's logo) that says "Shop".  That's where you buy.

The first stamp kit I bought here was the True Love set, and I still reach for that one all the time.  It really does depend on what your likes are.  Go to the shop and take a look around.  Something will stand out for you, I'm sure.

New kits are released once every other month.  It is available as a kit (with cardstock, paper, ribbon, etc.) for the first month, and then the stamp set(s) are sold individually after that. (The names of the stamp sets don't include the word "kit" when sold individually, so unless you know what the kits included or what the kit was called, you may not realize they were part of a kit.) In the "off month," there are usually new stamp sets released that are not part a kit.  You can click on the SHOP tab above (or you can log onto ginakdesigns.com directly), and click on WHAT'S NEW to see the current kit (or sets) being sold.

As far as "must have" sets, that's tough.  I keep finding sets that I feel I must have!  I guess the best way to start would be to decide what types of cards you feel you would make most, like birthday, thank  you, etc. and then click on STAMP SETS under PRODUCTS on the home page.  There, you can click on STAMPS BY THEME to zero in on what you might like. The videos and the galleries that pop up when you search a particular stamp set always make me want to buy those sets!  I have to warn you - you will become hooked on the wealth of information and inspiration, and all the great products that are available from StampTV and Gina K Designs!

Hi Misty!! And welcome!!!  Please feel free to ask anything!!  We are happy to have you here!!  And we all certainly remember our beginnings in stamping and being overwhelmed!  LOL

You'll see our members are wonderful at jumping in and answering questions too!  Here is the link to the current kit:

As for other sources we really keep the focus on Gina K here on Stamp TV.  And since the site itself is free but paid for by Gina we don't have many outside links to other places.   But....you really can find so much information to get you well on your way to stamping and you can always feel free to send a private message to anyone if you'd like some information on non-GKD items and they'll be happy to share that information with you!

We sure hope you'll feel up to joining in some challenges and discussions here!!  And can't wait to see what you create and share in the gallery!!

Hi Misty! This is where I landed when I wanted to begin stamping and card making! Best place to be, in my opinion! I would also suggest you go through the gallery, and see cards that have been made with sets/kits. You can then decide which ones you like, and then click on the shop link! Have fun! Welcome to the best stamping community!

Welcome to our obsession! I would recommend watching Gina's video tutorials.  She is absolutely the best when it comes to explaining techniques. This would help you find techniques and stamps that you're most interested in. I'd also recommend Spellbinders dies.  They can be expensive but there are many places that carry them for 40% off. The ovals, circles and rectangles will give you the most use as you get started. I wish I'd found Gina K a long time ago; my card recipients tell me that NOW I'm making beautiful cards! Hmmmm.  LOL

One of the best things about Gina's terrific tutorials is that if she uses products other than GKD, eg Spellbinders, Memento inks, Tim Holtz distress inks, Copics, Bic pens, even her Cuttlebug ... she will tell you and she lists the products at the beginning. I think that's one of the best things about the videos, that she does this.

Her card, paper and stamps always seem to be GKD though.

And you are right Misty, of all the card presenters on Youtube, noone has a better presentation or lists out what you will need, and need to do in the making of a card.

And another big plus? Gina doesn't begin every video with "Hi Everyone"!

I have to agree with Misty and Virginia that Gina is so easy to watch and listen to. Her presentations are spot on and I like how she lists the products she uses. I like the memento inks thanks to Gina but missed out on her inks pads etc because of the freight cost. Those members that have free postage are SO FORTUNATE and able to purchase more because of this. I know Gina is looking into the international freight costing and we thank her for that. Keep up the great tutorials Gina.

Misty - you should browse through the gallery and you will see a multitude of talent here with all different products and styles and add to your likes for future reference. Enjoy being a member of this great site.

Hi Misty! Looks like everyone answered your question! Welcome to StampTV! Everyone here is so awesome and helpful. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful group of people here that share ideas and friendship.

Thanks Cheryl!  I am definitely placing an oder and getting the kit.  The problem is I want everything right now - there are so many wonderful goodies.

Thanks Lisa -- Good to know that they come out every other month.  Was the current one just released in January?  Can you buy previous ones?  I can't seem to find those if you can.
