Card making, rubber stamping techniques and project videos for papercrafters

Hi everyone. I am trying to create the following card and I am having some problems with the bottom.

I have no idea what was used to cut out the bottom. Is that a spellbinder tag???

Here is the link. I really appreciate your help.

Yes, that is a spellbinder tag that Gina used. It looks like she die cut it, and then used the die as a mask while applying a light shading with a sponge.

You could do something very similar without a die - cut a piece of cardstock large enough for your sentiment, adding 1/4" to both ends. Then using your craft knife, make a slit just large enough for your ribbon to slide through. That should work just fine.

Hi,

Yes, Lynnis right. I used the Spellbinders Ribbon Tags 2 for that card. :)

Here is the link so you can see the other dies in the set:

Hi, and thanks for the response. When I showed my husband the card, he immediately did a search, (obviously better than I did), and found the die and then went to Michaels and we picked it up.

I have just used the die, and it does not cut out the corners the way this sample looks, as a matter of fact, its just a plain rectangle tag.

Have I done something wrong? I have used spellbinders in the past without issues. I used by C & B plate in my cuttlebug.

Looking at the die itself, the decorative corners do not even have the little ridge on it, that actually cuts and shapes the paper.

I would really appreciate feedback on this.

Thank you so much

Paula

So...in re-reading what advice was given, and after speaking with spellbinders, I am thinking that Gina made this look like the tag actually had the center cut out, when it really wasn't. It was just the shading. To me it looks as if the text is on a different level (like on the inside of the card), but maybe not.

I'm driving you crazy, I know. But I do appreciate the help.

Hi Paula!   It's so hard to 'see' what Lynn and Gina are talking about ....Im a visual learner myself too, and I have found a video I think might help:

It shows how Gina leaves her cut out image in the die and then sponges it, this is what she does with that tag too.  Leaves the whole thing in the die and it creates faux layers.  Hope this helps!  If not, just ask away!
