Card making, rubber stamping techniques and project videos for papercrafters

This is the place to ask us anything you want. (Well, almost anything!) Need to know where to find storage for your stamps? Having trouble with a video? Need to find out what size dies nest together? Here is the place to ask!

Members of our moderation team, design team and I will check this thread often and help you with your important stamping questions. And your question may help others too!

Every Monday, we will lock the previous week's thread and start a new thread with the current week's date. You will still be able to read the questions and answers posted in past week's threads, however, by starting a new thread each week, you won't have to scroll back 50 pages to find answers to your questions.

Please ask your questions here in this thread and not by starting new threads as we can't keep track of all of those and have to delete those.

So go ahead. Ask us. We're ready to help! :)

Thanks Cat, I am so hopeful that Gina will find something that will work  for her and us.    Don't those crazy courier companies know she just launched fabulous new ink pads that we are all dying to get into our hot little stamping hands!

Gina is working so hard on trying to find a way that wont cost y'all an arm and a leg or her either.  It's just crazy how much the cost jumped!  wow!  Be be assured Gina IS trying to see if she can do something!

Oh Kathryn i just read your comment...don't tell me this....I've been in the USA for four months and TOTALLY been taking advantage of the free shipping. I felt now I'm back in Canada I can suck up 5.95 for shipping but not these huge rates you ladies are speaking about. I can't live without Gina's paper til I go back to the US.
On a side note, I sold Close To My Heart and bought a lot of Stampin Up paper and when I got home and compared the weight and strength of colour of Gina's and these other companies, I have to conclude that Gina K papers are so superior it's not even a competition! Pleeeeease don't kill us on shipping.
Thanks.W

Hi Cindy,

I had this issue with a set I made for my sister, the stamping is almost completely gone.  I had 2 thoughts A) I used brown stazon on hers and I have read that brown Stazon could be the problem and B) Her husband drinks stronger british beer and now I am wondering if alcohol dripped on the tiles if it would act as a disolvent?  From now on I am eitehr going to bake or do as Cat does and spray them

A while back I took a class on making tiles using travertine coasters.  I then started making them to sell.  I use only stazon ink because it's waterfast.  I have not been sealing them with anything nor have I baked them.  I wanted to keep them natural and absorbant.  However, one of my customers has reported that the coasters she gave her mother are running.  It was a set of 8 coasters.

Do you have any ideas on what caused this?  Is it because I did not seal or bake them?

I did watch the video here on making the coasters and the lady said they are water fast with no baking or fixative.

Blessings,

Cindy

Thanks for the tip on the brown stazon.  I know the family does not drink beer so I know that is not the issue.  Thanks again.

Hi!  I just bought the Spellbinders Shapeabilities die Bitty Blossoms, and I have no idea how to use it.  I wonder if anyone else has this and knows where I can find a video showing how it works?  I went to the Spellbinderspaperarts.com site, but didn't see one.

Sharyn, go to Google Images.  Then type in "Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms".  Lots of samples to see.  There are several tutorials posted by various bloggers.

Thanks so much, Dena.  I was able to find some videos.  I really appreciate the help!

i have a big shot machine and when i use cuttlebug or sizzix folders to emboss my cards, the paper cracks.  any suggestions? and yes, I am creating the right sandwich based upon the instructions on the platform

I'm interested too Pam. I'm borrowing a Big Shot and when I used the correct sandwich for my Spellbinder dies, it automatically did a half-baked emboss too, even tho I didn't want to cut and emboss. Leslie

Somr people say to mist the paper w/ water to emboss easier.

Hi Pam....I've had that happen a couple of times and what I noticed is that it's when I'm using heavier cardstocks and very detailed embossing folders.  I also live in a very dry climate so I'm curious if that also affects it.  But I will say that I rarely can tell that there is any ripping showing when I adhere the piece to another layer.

I mentioned to a gentleman stamper that Gina came out with such nice inks now. So since he does mostly scene stamping he was interested in the colors she had and found a couple he wanted. He also found some scene type stamps from sets he wanted but didn't feel he wanted to purchase a whole set of them. Is there any way that individual stamps can be purchased?  He wanted to do a bigger order if that was possible, but if not, he may not order anything. Any informatiion would be wonderful.

Can someone tell me what the difference is between the A Year of Flowers- Pressed Flowers Masks Silhouette Cut File and the A Year of Flowers- Pressed Flowers Silhouette Cut File.

I've already purchased the latter, but not sure about the first one.  Thanks!
